Akcent

Akcent is one of the most recognizable disco polo groups in Poland, founded in 1989 in Bielsk Podlaski by Zenon Martyniuk and Mariusz Anikiej. The project started with a solid background, since both founders had already performed in earlier bands, Martyniuk in Akord and Anikiej in Centrum. The band’s earliest confirmed recorded release was the 1991 cassette “Akcent 1,” which included early songs such as “Chłopak z gitarą,” “Dajcie mi gitarę,” and “Tabu tibu.” After returning from Belgium, the group was reactivated, and the releases “Dajcie mi gitarę” and “Słuchajcie chłopcy” helped expand its reach.
