Waldemar Tkaczyk
Waldemar Tkaczyk is a Polish bassist, guitarist, drummer, composer, and lyricist, most strongly associated with his long partnership with Grzegorz Skawiński and with the bands Kombi, Skawalker, O.N.A., and KOMBII. He was born in Mława, and his musical path began early through learning by ear and playing in his first youth bands. The most reliable starting point for his stage activity is 1969, when, after meeting Skawiński, he co-founded Kameleon. The two later played together in Horoskop and then joined Sławomir Łosowski’s Akcenty, which became Kombi in 1976. Artist Trivia
- Before becoming a widely known bassist, his parents bought him an accordion instead of a guitar, but he did not want to learn that instrument and saved money for a used guitar himself.
- One of the key moments in his life came on 1 September 1969, right after the opening school assembly, when he met Grzegorz Skawiński, a relationship that later became one of the longest-running partnerships in Polish rock and pop-rock.
- Tkaczyk made his joining Akcenty conditional on Grzegorz Skawiński entering the band with him, which had a real impact on the later shape of Kombi.
- He wrote or co-wrote music and lyrics for many well-known songs, including “Nasze randez-vous”, “Nie ma zysku”, “Kochać cię, za późno”, “Nietykalni, skamieniałe zło”, “Linia życia”, “Znalazłam”, and “Sen się spełni”.
