Before becoming a symbol of Pod Budą, he was already active in the student cultural scene and won multiple prizes at student song festivals in the early 1970s, which rooted him firmly in the Kraków bard tradition before wider fame arrived.
Pod Budą did not begin as a standard band in the modern sense, Sikorowski first joined the cabaret Pod Budą, and only after its dissolution did he form a vocal-instrumental group from its musical lineup under the same name.
He wrote the vast majority of Pod Budą’s lyrics and a large share of its music, so his role in the group’s history went far beyond that of a frontman or lead singer.
He also wrote songs that became major hits for other artists, including “Ale to już było” for Maryla Rodowicz and “Polska Madonna”, which was recognized at both the Opole and Sopot festivals.
