Anna Jantar
Anna Jantar, born Anna Maria Szmeterling and later Anna Maria Kukulska after marriage, was one of the biggest stars of Polish popular music in the 1970s. She was born on 10 June 1950 in Poznań and, before fully entering show business, gained musical education and early stage experience. She began her professional solo career in 1972. A year later she adopted the stage name Anna Jantar, and that was the moment of her decisive breakthrough. The song “Najtrudniejszy pierwszy krok” opened the way to nationwide popularity and made her one of the leading faces of modern Polish pop.
