Grażyna Łobaszewska is a Polish singer, composer, and lyricist whose powerful, instantly recognizable voice has long placed her at the intersection of pop, soul, jazz, and sophisticated Polish song. She is best known for songs such as “Czas nas uczy pogody,” “Gdybyś,” “Brzydcy,” and “Piosenka o ludziach z duszą.” She was born in Gdańsk and began her musical training there, completing music school in piano. Between 1970 and 1972 she studied at the Polish Radio and Television Song Studio led by Renata Gleinert, and her first clearly documented breakthrough performance came in 1971 at the Festival of Soviet Song in Zielona Góra. “Czas nas uczy pogody” became her signature song even though her 1980 Opole performance of it was not included in the televised festival rebroadcast.
Before becoming widely recognized as a solo artist, she sang backing vocals for Halina Frąckowiak, Wojciech Skowroński, and Elżbieta Wojnowska, which shows how strongly her career was grounded in ensemble work.
She was a member of Crash from 1978 to 1983, and that period produced albums such as “Senna opowieść Jana B.” and “Something Beautiful, But Not Expensive,” both important to understanding her career beyond her best known radio hits.
In 1991 she returned to Opole with major success, winning the Premieres competition ex aequo with Zbigniew Wodecki thanks to “Wszystko co złe, omija mnie.”
