Illusion
Illusion was formed in early 1992 in Gdańsk and quickly became one of the strongest new names in Polish heavy music. From the beginning, its core lineup was built around Tomek “Lipa” Lipnicki, Jurek “Jerry” Rutkowski, Paweł Herbasch and Jarek Śmigiel, the formation still most closely associated with the band today. The earliest clearly confirmed debut point is 1993. That was the year the band released its first album, began broader live activity including club shows in Germany, and won the Marlboro Rock-In contest in Sopot. - The band’s first three studio albums, “Illusion”, “Illusion 2” and “Illusion 3”, all earned gold certification.
- Illusion won the Marlboro Rock-In contest in Sopot in 1993, which quickly pushed the group into the front line of Polish heavy music.
- The band also appeared at the Jarocin Rock Festival in both 1993 and 1994, strengthening its standing on the Polish guitar scene.
- After the group split in 1999, Tomek Lipnicki launched Lipali, which became one of the most important later chapters of his career.
