Janusz Panasewicz
Janusz Panasewicz, officially Jan Panasewicz, is a Polish rock vocalist and lyricist, best known as the frontman of Lady Pank since 1982 and widely regarded as one of the most distinctive voices in Polish rock. He was born on 18 January 1956 in Lipsk in north eastern Poland and spent his youth in Olecko, where he completed primary and secondary school before pursuing music more seriously. During his compulsory military service he sang in the army band Desant and later performed with several amateur groups, gaining stage experience and developing his personal vocal style. - In his official documents he is listed as Jan Panasewicz; the name „Janusz” only appeared after he joined Lady Pank to distinguish him from guitarist Jan Borysewicz and later became his public stage name.
- His first serious musical experience came with the army band Desant during his military service, meaning he built stage confidence before the 1980s rock boom in Poland.
- Meeting lyricist Andrzej Mogielnicki was a career turning point, as it was Mogielnicki who recommended him as vocalist for the newly forming band Lady Pank.
- In the 1980s he collaborated with singer Krystyna Prońko and appeared in Jerzy Sztwiertnia’s film „Oszołomienie”, briefly combining music with acting.
