Anita Lipnicka was born on 13 June 1975 in Piotrków Trybunalski and is one of the most important Polish female singers, songwriters and composers in pop and singer-songwriter music. Her career includes several clearly defined stages, from success with Varius Manx, through a strong solo path, to critically appreciated collaborations and more intimate author-driven projects. Before gaining nationwide popularity, she sang in the Piotrków-based band Certificado and had also worked as a model. Her major breakthrough came in 1993, when she joined Varius Manx and quickly became one of the most recognizable female voices of the Polish music scene of the 1990s. Anita Lipnicka began her career in the Piotrków-based band Certificado and had worked as a model even earlier.
She sang with Varius Manx from 1993 to 1996 and recorded two albums with the band, “Emu” and “Elf”.
With Varius Manx, she helped popularize major hits such as “Zanim zrozumiesz”, “Piosenka księżycowa” and “Zabij mnie”.
In 1996, she moved to London to develop a solo career outside the direct shadow of her earlier band success.
