Maryla Rodowicz
Maryla Rodowicz, born Maria Antonina Rodowicz, has for decades belonged to the most important figures in Polish popular music. She was born on 8 December 1945 in Zielona Góra, and part of her childhood and youth was also connected with Włocławek. Her path to a major career began in the second half of the 1960s. In 1967 she won the Student Songs and Singers’ Festival in Kraków, which opened the doors to the professional stage. Two years later she won first prize at the Opole festival for the song “Mówiły mu,” confirming that she was not a short-lived phenomenon.
