Rena Rolska, born Regina Rollinger-Jonkajtys, was one of the major stars of postwar Polish popular song, especially prominent in the 1950s, 1960s and part of the 1970s. She was born in Warsaw on 19 January 1932, and her career developed across popular music, cabaret and entertainment theatre. The safest date for her professional debut is 1955, when she appeared at Warsaw’s Hala Gwardii during the radio program “Zgaduj zgadula” as a soloist with the Polish Radio Dance Orchestra led by Jan Cajmer.
