Anna Jurksztowicz is a Polish singer, songwriter and music producer best known for her major pop hits from the 1980s and 1990s as well as for memorable film and television theme songs. To the wider audience she remains the voice of tracks such as “Diamentowy kolczyk,” “Stan pogody,” “Hej, man!,” “Zmysły,” and the theme associated with “Na dobre i na złe,” yet her career has always extended far beyond that of a standard pop soloist. “Diamentowy kolczyk” was more than just a hit, it is often revisited as a sophisticated pop song with a deeper social subtext shaped by late-PRL realities.
Before becoming a nationally known solo singer, she sang in Musicus Poloniensis and Music Market, and also worked with Sami Swoi, Bolter and Zbigniew Górny’s Polish Radio and Television Orchestra, which gave her unusually broad stage experience.
Her voice became deeply associated with Polish television thanks to songs recorded for films and TV series such as “Na dobre i na złe,” “Matki, żony i kochanki,” “Czułość i kłamstwa” and “Ranczo”.
Her artistic range goes well beyond mainstream pop, since at different times she performed gospel, spirituals, mantras, sacred pieces and songs based on major poets’ texts.
