Bogdan Olewicz
Bogdan Olewicz, born Bogusław Olewicz, is one of the most important Polish lyricists of the late 20th and early 21st centuries, and also a music journalist. He was born in Bytom on June 28, 1946, graduated from the University of Warsaw’s English philology program, and also worked as a lecturer, teacher and translator before fully establishing himself in music. He became interested in songwriting in 1967, and his safely documented debut came in 1968 when he wrote the lyrics to “Za moim oknem” for Maryla Rodowicz. Artist Trivia
- He is most strongly written into Polish music history through Perfect, for whom he wrote seven lyrics on the band’s debut album, including “Nie płacz, Ewka”, “Niewiele ci mogę dać” and “Obracam w palcach złoty pieniądz”.
- He was just as important on Perfect’s album “UNU”, where he again contributed seven lyrics, including “Autobiografia”, “Idź precz” and “Objazdowe nieme kino”.
- In the 1970s, he formed an important composer-lyricist partnership with Zbigniew Hołdys, a collaboration that helped shape the language of Polish rock and pop-rock of that era.
- His catalogue goes far beyond rock bands, since he also wrote for major Polish stars such as Anna Jantar, Krystyna Prońko, Zdzisława Sośnicka and Krzysztof Krawczyk.
