Artur Gadowski
Artur Dionizy Gadowski is a Polish rock singer, guitarist, composer, songwriter and producer, best known as the frontman and leader of the band IRA. He was born on 1 June 1967 in Szydłowiec and originally trained as a jeweller, but has been professionally involved with music since the mid‑1980s. After early experiences with local bands he joined IRA as lead vocalist in 1987, which marked a turning point in his career. Since then his distinctive voice, combining rock intensity with melodic phrasing, has become a hallmark of Polish rock. - He trained as a jeweller before fully committing to music, an unusual background for a rock frontman.
- He became IRA’s vocalist in 1987 and performed with the band at the Opole Festival as early as 1988, quickly entering Poland’s rock mainstream.
- After a crisis in the late 1990s IRA returned under the name „Artur Gadowski & IRA” before reverting to its original name, highlighting his central role in the band.
- His self titled solo album was initially planned for 1996, but he rejected the first recording as unsatisfactory and re recorded the material; the final version came out in 1998.
