IRA
IRA is a Polish rock band from Radom, formed in 1987 by guitarist Kuba Płucisz, who took the name from Latin, where „ira” means anger. The band made its debut at the Opole Polish Song Festival in 1988, and its first album, simply titled „IRA”, was released in 1989. The original line up included Artur Gadowski (vocals, guitar), Kuba Płucisz (guitar), Wojtek Owczarek (drums), Dariusz Grudzień (bass) and Grzegorz Wawrzeńczuk (keyboards). In the early 1990s IRA became one of Poland’s most popular bands playing a softer form of heavy metal as well as pop rock and hard rock, earning three gold and one platinum records. - Kuba Płucisz came up with the name „IRA” in high school, inspired by Latin and by three letter band names like TSA that are easy for audiences to chant.
