EastWest Rockers are one of the more important Polish reggae and dancehall acts of the 2000s, best known for blending Jamaican influences with Polish-language vocals, modern riddim choices and a strong live identity. The group also operated as a sound system, and period sources point to a classic core line-up built around Cheeba, Grizzlee and Ras Luta, alongside Kuba 1200 and JahLaptop. EastWest Rockers built a strong live reputation before releasing their debut album, moving from local parties in Opole to gigs across Poland at a very early stage.
Their debut album “Ciężkie Czasy” is often described as a breakthrough release for the Polish reggae and dancehall scene, partly because of its riddim selection and the sound shaped by Pionear of Germaican Rec.
The band’s first album came out through Karrot Kommando, and later source material still described the label and agency as a close concert partner of the group.
Their second album, “Jedyna Broń,” was released by Prosto, a label then associated mainly with street rap, which surprised part of the audience and signaled a broader stylistic reach that included more hip-hop and R&B.
