Fokus, born Wojciech Alszer, is a Polish rapper, lyricist and producer from Katowice and one of the defining figures of Silesian and nationwide Polish hip hop at the turn of the 1990s and 2000s. He is best known as a co founder of Paktofonika and later as a key member of Pokahontaz, two groups that had a lasting impact on the development of Polish rap. Born on 13 March 1980 in Katowice, he began his musical activity in 1996, several years before joining the projects that made him widely known. Before Paktofonika he was also involved in projects such as Pijani Powietrzem and was part of the Katowice scene that developed its own rap language outside the Warsaw centered mainstream. In sources about Paktofonika, Fokus is often identified as the initiator of the group’s formation, even though the band’s legend is usually narrated primarily through Magik.
Hip Hop Wiki notes that in 2011 Fokus ranked 14th on Machina magazine’s list of the 30 best Polish rappers, confirming his reputation as a rapper especially respected within the scene itself.
After Paktofonika ended, he did not rely only on the PFK legacy but immediately co created Pokahontaz, a project intended to be more than just an afterword to the previous group.
Older PFK biographies mention his very ambitious release plans, including another Paktofonika album, Pokahontaz material, Pijani Powietrzem releases and additional side projects, which reflects both his work ethic and broad artistic interests.
