Igor Herbut is a Polish singer, composer and songwriter of Lemko origin, best known as the founder, leader and vocalist of the band LemON and as an increasingly active solo artist. He was born on 17 December 1990 in Przemków in Lower Silesia, into a musical Lemko family that carefully preserved its traditions, something he often cites as crucial to his artistic identity. Herbut studied at the Jazz and Popular Music Department of the University of Zielona Góra, where he developed his vocal and compositional skills in a jazz and improvisation oriented environment. Herbut studied jazz and popular music in Zielona Góra and then went on to win a mainstream TV talent show with a band playing an unconventional, alternative style of pop, an unusual trajectory for such programmes.
