Jędker
Jędker belongs to the generation of rappers that helped shape Warsaw hip-hop in its most formative period. He is most strongly associated with WWO and ZIP Skład, and his role in those projects secured his place as one of the notable figures of Warsaw rap at the turn of the 1990s and 2000s. His safely confirmed start in the main circulation can be linked to the mid 1990s, when he began operating within the ZIP Skład circle and laying the groundwork for what would become WWO. WWO, built together with Sokół and DJ Deszczu Strugi, became one of the key groups in Polish rap, and Jędker contributed both as a rapper and as part of the project’s lyrical and production identity. Artist Trivia
- Jędker was not only a member of WWO, but one of its co founders alongside Sokół and DJ Deszczu Strugi, which places him at the very centre of one of Warsaw rap’s defining formations.
- He was also part of ZIP Skład, the collective that strongly shaped the language and aesthetics of Polish street hip-hop in the late 1990s.
- In 2006 he made a radical stylistic turn and launched Monopol, a project blending pop-rap, disco and euro house, far removed from his earlier rap image.
- He later said openly that Monopol actually gave him bread and allowed him to live, which says a lot about the tension between hip-hop credibility and the practical economics of a music career.
