Krystyna Maciejewska
Krystyna Maciejewska is a Polish singer, lyricist, scriptwriter, and cultural producer, most closely associated with Polish popular song and with her long artistic partnership with Janusz Gniatkowski. She was born in Rzeszów, but many of her formative years, both educationally and artistically, were linked to Częstochowa, where she attended school and built her first stage experience. Her entry into professional music came early. The safest confirmed debut date is 1961, when she made her first recordings for Polish Radio Katowice with Jerzy Harald’s orchestra, while also performing at the “Studnia” club with Bogdan Wroński’s ensemble and appearing in the student theatre “Bambino.” In 1962 she completed both a...

- Before gaining broader recognition as a singer, she also pursued acting and recalled that her first local visibility in Częstochowa came from a school production of “Moralność pani Dulskiej.”
- Early in her career she moved within an influential artistic circle and encountered figures such as Agnieszka Osiecka, Krzysztof Komeda, Stanisław Tym, Krystyna Sienkiewicz and Urszula Dudziak.
- In 1962 she performed with the student theatre “Bambino” in Częstochowa, and the award she received for “Coś za darmo” helped connect her to the wider Polish stage scene.
- At the first Opole festival she attracted attention not only for her singing but also for her stage presence, and later recollections describe her as an artist who stood out immediately.
