Krzysztof Cugowski
Krzysztof Piotr Cugowski is a Polish rock singer, co‑founder and long time frontman of the band Budka Suflera, and one of the most iconic voices in the history of Polish rock music. He was born on 30 May 1950 in Lublin, where he completed his education at the State Music School as a piano student, giving him a solid classical grounding before he moved into rock. At the turn of the 1960s and 1970s he co‑created a Lublin based band that in 1969 adopted the name Budka Suflera and later became one of the pillars of Polish rock. - The Budka Suflera album „Nic nie boli tak jak życie”, featuring Cugowski on vocals, sold over one million copies, a rare feat on the Polish market.
- He performed with Budka Suflera at New York’s Carnegie Hall, an exceptional achievement for a Polish rock band at the time.
- Cugowski first left Budka Suflera in 1976 to work briefly with the bands Spisek and Cross, before returning in 1984.
- In the late 1980s he lived in the United States, combining gigs with manual labour until the success of the album „Cisza” prompted the band’s permanent return to Poland.
