Krzysztof January Krawczyk was a Polish singer, guitarist, and composer, and for many listeners simply one of the most distinctive voices in the history of Polish popular music. He was born on 8 September 1946 in Katowice, and his career covered nearly his entire adult life. The first major chapter of his work was connected with the band Trubadurzy. In 1963 he co-founded the group and quickly became its most recognizable voice. Krawczyk began as a co-founder and singer of Trubadurzy, one of the most important Polish big-beat bands.
With Trubadurzy he popularized songs such as “Znamy się tylko z widzenia,” “Krajobrazy,” “Byłaś tu,” “Cóż wiemy o miłości,” and “Przyjedź mamo na przysięgę”.
He began his solo career in 1973 with the album “Byłaś mi nadzieją,” recorded with Ryszard Poznakowski’s instrumental group.
He was known for an unusually broad repertoire, reaching for pop, rock and roll, country, religious songs, and festive popular music, while still keeping an immediately recognizable style.
