Sławomir Łosowski
Sławomir Łosowski, full name Marek Sławomir Łosowski, is a Polish keyboard player, composer and record producer, best known as the founder, leader and main songwriter of the band Kombi, one of the most important synth pop and electronic rock acts in Polish popular music. He was born on 31 August 1951 in Gdańsk and has been active as a musician since the late 1960s, which makes him one of the longest running figures on the Polish pop and rock scene. Trained as an electronics engineer, he became fascinated early on with synthesizers and keyboard instruments, and this passion later shaped Kombi’s distinctly modern, synth driven sound in the 1980s. Artist Trivia
- Łosowski is a trained electronics engineer, which allowed him to design and tweak equipment and instruments, helping make Kombi a pioneer of analog synth based sound in Poland.
- He started his career in the late 1960s, at a time when Western synthesizers were almost unavailable in Poland, so much of Kombi’s sound came from custom setups and creative use of limited gear.
- The long dispute over the Kombi name resulted in two separate acts co existing on the market for years, Kombii and Łosowski’s own band, eventually branded as Kombi Łosowski.
- A 2022 ruling by the Court of Justice of the European Union annulled the „Kombi” trademark, forcing him to stop using the bare name Kombi commercially but allowing him to continue under the registered „Kombi Łosowski” mark.
