Magda Wójcik
Magda Wójcik is a Polish singer and lyricist, most strongly associated with Goya, the band in which she remains the voice and most recognisable public face. Her place on the scene, however, is not built around a single hit alone, because over time she also developed a strong authorial profile that includes solo work and writing for other artists. Her beginnings reach back to the years before Goya was formed. Artist Trivia
- Before becoming widely known with Goya, she spent her teenage years travelling across Poland for song contests, performing not only as a singer but also as a guitarist presenting her own material.
- Her first original recordings were released on cassette with Dalmafon’s support, which means her documented career started before Goya rather than entirely within the band framework.
- She collaborated with Nigel Kennedy by recording vocal parts for “Ajde Jano”, one of the more unusual intersections between Polish pop songwriting and a musician from a very different artistic background.
- Goya’s album Smak słów became the group’s real breakthrough and, in the band’s own retrospective account, was the record that most strongly changed its position, also bringing a Fryderyk award for pop album of the year.
