Łucja Prus

Łucja Prus was one of the most important Polish interpreters of literary and reflective song in the second half of the twentieth century. She was born on 25 May 1942 in Białystok and died on 3 July 2002 in Warsaw. She made her debut as a singer in the first half of the 1960s, at a time when Polish popular song was becoming more open to ambitious lyrics and subtler interpretation. From the beginning, she stood out not through vocal showmanship, but through concentration, precision and a refined approach to language. She is best remembered for songs such as “Dookoła noc się stała,” “Nic dwa razy się nie zdarza,” “Twój portret,” “W żółtych płomieniach liści,” “Walc chopinowski” and “Tango z różą w zębach”....
