Marek Dyjak
Marek Dyjak is one of the most distinctive figures in Polish literary song and jazz-inflected alternative music. He was born on April 18, 1975 in Świdnik, and from the beginning his work has been tied to emotional intensity, interpretation of other writers’ texts, and a very individual voice. Before releasing his first albums, he appeared in the 1990s at numerous sung-poetry festivals and reviews. At that time he performed poems by Andrzej Bursa and Rafał Wojaczek, and one of the important turning points was meeting Jan Kondrak, who became his mentor. - As a child he taught himself piano first, and later also guitar and trumpet, so his musicality developed in a more organic way than through a strictly academic path.
- He graduated from a construction school with a plumbing profile, which sharply contrasts with his later image as one of the most literary voices in Polish song.
- In his early years he sang poems by Andrzej Bursa and Rafał Wojaczek, and Jan Kondrak became an important mentor to him.
