PSYCHOCUKIER

PSYCHOCUKIER is a rock band from Łódź whose roots go back to the mid-1990s, with Robert “Sasza” Tomaszewski identified as the project’s founder. The group’s most recognizable form, however, is the more stable lineup active from around 2001 onward, with Sasza Tomaszewski, Piotr Połoz and Marcin Awierianow forming the strongest confirmed core of the band. Their music has been described as rock’n’roll stripped of unnecessary decoration, dirty and sharp yet still melodic, with a clear punk impulse and a psychedelic tilt. A key milestone came with the recording debut “Małpy Morskie” in 2007, followed quickly by “No More Work!,” which showed that the band was moving fast and already speaking in its own...

Artist Trivia

  • The band’s name comes from the film “Brooklyn Boogie,” which gives PSYCHOCUKIER a slightly playful and pop-cultural edge from the outset.
  • The sources show a clear split between the beginning of the project itself and the formation of the lineup that later became the band’s best-known version.
  • On the album “Królestwo,” the group openly leaned into 1960s and 1970s inspirations while still keeping its guitar noise and psychedelic tension intact.
  • “Królestwo” was also an important point because the band explicitly framed it as a Polish-language turn.
