Smolik
Andrzej Smolik is a Polish musician, composer, music producer, and multi-instrumentalist whose name has long become a synonym for modern, elegant, and highly conscious music production. He was born on 10 February 1970 in Świnoujście and began his nationwide career in 1993 as the keyboard player of the band Wilki. The early phase of his path was connected with rock, but it quickly became clear that his real specialty lay in production, arrangement, and building distinctive sonic landscapes. After his time with Wilki, he worked with Robert Gawliński, then with Kasia Nosowska, Hey, Myslovitz, Artur Rojek, Novika, Krzysztof Krawczyk, and many other artists. He stepped into the foreground as an authorial artist...
Artist Trivia
- Smolik began in the band Wilki, and he played the first chord of “Baśka,” one of the most recognizable Polish hits of the 1990s.
- He moved very quickly from being part of a rock band to becoming one of the most respected producers and session musicians in Poland.
- He helped create important albums by artists such as Kasia Nosowska, Robert Gawliński, Artur Rojek, Krzysztof Krawczyk, Novika, and Myslovitz, so his impact on Polish music goes far beyond his own catalogue.
- His 2001 solo debut “Smolik” was an important moment for the Polish scene because it presented electronics in a subtler, more analog, and more song based way than club oriented or aggressively experimental music.
