Tabu
Tabu is a Silesian reggae band rooted in Wodzisław Śląski and nearby towns, founded in October 2003 by Rafał Karwot, Karol Karwot, Marcin Suchy and Jakub Kuznicius. From the very beginning, the group developed through live performance, and its earliest confirmed concert took place as early as November 2003 in Gorzyce. In its early years, Tabu built momentum through competitions and constant gigging, quickly winning Ostróda Reggae Festival 2005 and earning recognition at Rock-Time in Opole and the “Młode Wilki, Rebelia 2005” showcase at Warsaw’s Stodoła club. That phase led to the band’s recording debut with the 2006 album “jednosłowo,” followed by further growth on the live circuit, including performances...
Artist Trivia
- Tabu’s first concert was not in a club or at a festival, but in a social welfare home in Gorzyce, which says a lot about the band’s grassroots beginnings.
- Before releasing its debut album, the group had already won major competitions, including Ostróda Reggae Festival 2005, after earlier taking second prize and the audience award at Rock-Time in Opole.
- Tabu is a two-time winner of the “Złoty Bączek” award, given to the best band of the Przystanek Woodstock festival, now known as Pol'and'Rock Festival.
- The official website states that the band has already played more than 2,000 concerts, which helps explain why its reputation rests so strongly on live performance.
