Błoto
Błoto is a Wrocław-based instrumental quartet linked to EABS through personnel, but operating as a separate artistic entity built around jazz, hip-hop pulse, electronics and raw improvisation. The line-up features Marek Pędziwiatr, Paweł Stachowiak, Marcin Rak and Olaf Węgier, musicians already well known within the new wave of Polish jazz who narrowed their format here into something tighter, heavier and more rhythm-focused. The band’s beginnings are unusual, because Błoto emerged in the summer of 2018 almost by accident during a day off on an EABS tour. Artist Trivia
- Błoto was not launched as a carefully planned long-term band, it grew out of an improvised recording urge during a day off on an EABS tour between Brzeg Dolny, Łódź and Sopot.
- The group’s origin story includes a session at Maska studio made possible by Grzegorz Skawiński of Kombi, which is a rather unusual starting point for a modern jazz and hip-hop-rooted quartet.
- In 2020 Błoto arrived with unusual momentum, leading to three albums within twelve months, “Erozje,” “Płonie” and “Kwasy i zasady.”
- The band quickly stopped being seen as a one-off EABS spin-off and established itself as a separate act with its own sonic language.
