Collage
Collage is a legendary Polish progressive rock band founded in Warsaw in 1984–1985 by guitarist Mirosław Gil and drummer Wojciech Szadkowski. From the beginning, the group was associated with neo-progressive rock and quickly established itself as one of the key Polish names in the genre. The debut album “Baśnie” was released at the end of 1990 and received strong responses from both critics and fans. Two years later, the band’s best-known lineup took shape with Robert Amirian, Krzysztof Palczewski, and Piotr “Mintay” Witkowski, and that phase produced “Nine Songs of John Lennon.” During the 1990s, Collage also built a serious reputation outside Poland. - Collage was co-founded by Mirosław Gil and Wojciech Szadkowski, musicians who later left a major mark on projects such as Believe and Satellite as well.
- The 1992 album “Nine Songs of John Lennon” was not a standard original studio record, but the band’s own interpretations of Lennon songs, which makes it a distinctive release in their catalog.
- “Moonshine” became a breakthrough beyond Poland, as the band signed with the Dutch label SI Music and the album reached markets as far as Japan and South Korea.
- The track “Living in the Moonlight” repeatedly appeared in the top fifty of the Polish Radio Three all-time chart, an unusual achievement for a Polish progressive rock band.
