Jann, real name Jan Rozmanowski, is a Polish singer and songwriter in the alternative pop and indie pop realm who rose to national fame after competing in the 2023 Eurovision national selection with his song „Gladiator”. He was born on 12 February 1999 in Lublin and spent part of his childhood in Garwolin, where his early fascination with music led him to choral work and classical training, including singing at the National Opera. Before moving into alternative pop, Jann performed classical and opera repertoire, including singing at the Polish National Opera, which is highly unusual for a young pop oriented vocalist.
His voice is classified as a countertenor, one of the rarest male voice types, typically associated with baroque music rather than contemporary pop.
He developed much of his artistic education abroad, studying at Flynn Performing Arts in Newry and at the renowned BIMM in London, which strongly shaped his ease with English language material.
„Gladiator” won the public televote in Poland’s 2023 Eurovision national selection but lost due to the jury vote, sparking one of the most heated debates around the country’s Eurovision choice in recent years.
