Patrycja Markowska is one of the longest-standing female names on the Polish pop-rock scene, an artist born in Warsaw who built her position between rock energy and a more radio-friendly mainstream appeal. Her best-known songs are deeply rooted in the mainstream, yet her catalogue has consistently stayed closer to guitar-based pop-rock than to pure pop. The earliest safely confirmed point of her phonographic debut is 2000, when she recorded the song “Musisz być pierwszy”. A year later she released “Będę silna,” the album that opened her discography and also brought her a Fryderyk nomination for debut. Her career was never built only on album releases, because her debut record “Będę silna” already earned a Fryderyk nomination in the debut category, placing her on the industry radar from the start.
The single “Świat się pomylił” became one of the biggest turning points in her catalogue, winning both the main “Premiery” award and the journalists’ award at the 44th Polish Song Festival in Opole.
In 2019 she recorded the joint album “Droga” with Grzegorz Markowski, which was important not only on a family level but also artistically, because their earlier collaborations had been more occasional and stage-based.
Her later work highlights her authorship more strongly, because the official materials for “Ślady” and “Karminowy” credit her as lyricist and co-writer of the music and production.
