Kasta
K.A.S.T.A. is a hip-hop group from Wrocław formed in 1999 on the initiative of producer DJ Kut-O and rapper Waldemar Kieliszak, then known as Wall-E and later more widely recognized as Waldemar Kasta. The original lineup was completed by OMA, an English-language rapper, which immediately made the project stand out from many other Polish crews of the late 1990s. Although the group was founded in 1999, its earliest confirmed recording trace appears in 2000, when K.A.S.T.A. appeared as a guest on the track “Gdy mogę” from the album “2071.” The proper album debut came two years later with “Kastaniety,” a record that established the act as one of the important voices of early-2000s Wrocław rap. Artist Trivia
- The name K.A.S.T.A. expands to “Konfederacja Absolwentów Szkoły Technicznej Artykulacji,” which gave the project a sharp and memorable identity from the outset.
- The debut album “Kastaniety” did not arrive until 2002, even though the group had existed since 1999, so its full recording entrance came relatively late for early Polish rap standards.
- Soon after “Kastaniety,” OMA left the lineup and was replaced by Donguralesko, which significantly changed the group’s profile and impact.
- K.A.S.T.A. did not remain just a small trio, because it later expanded into the wider K.A.S.T.A. Squad collective with members including Amos, Deadly Hunta, Nullo, Szad and Verte.
