Zipera
Zipera is a Warsaw hip-hop group formed in 1999 by Fu, Pono and Koras, three rappers coming out of the wider ZIP Skład circle. That origin immediately placed the group in an important position within Polish rap, because ZIP Skład was one of the key crews shaping the street-oriented identity of the Warsaw scene. The group’s recording debut came in 2000 with the album “O.N.F.R.,” which remains the earliest clearly confirmed release in its catalogue. At that stage, Zipera operated as a project deeply rooted in the realities of the capital’s rap scene, driven by the distinct personalities of its three MCs and the broader platform connected with ZIP Skład. The second album, “Druga strona medalu,” arrived in 2004...
Artist Trivia
- Zipera was formed by members of ZIP Skład, so from the start it was rooted in one of the key environments of Polish street rap rather than built as a completely separate act from scratch.
- The debut album “O.N.F.R.” was released with Pomaton EMI and Baza Label involvement, which gave the group a stronger launch platform than many underground rap crews of that era.
- After the 2004 album “Druga strona medalu,” the group disappeared from regular release circulation for a long period, and its 2018 return with “Meritum.” worked as a clear comeback after a thirteen-year gap.
- The 2017 single “Gdzie one są?” was one of the first strong signals that Fu, Pono and Koras were operating together as Zipera again.
