Mor W.A.
Mor W.A. is one of the more important Warsaw hip-hop crews to emerge from the late 1990s, closely linked to Ursynów and the estate-based core of the capital’s rap scene. The group was formed at the end of 1997 by Wigor, Pepper and Łyskacz, who initially operated under the extended name S.E.N. Mor W.A. The first confirmed recording traces appeared as early as 1998 through the song “Unoszę głowę” on DJ 600 V’s compilation and a later appearance on “Hiphopowy raport z osiedla w najlepszym wykonaniu.” That phase quickly led to a deal with Pomaton EMI and the release of the debut album “Te słowa mówią wszystko” in September 2000, preceded by the single “Żyć nie umierać.” The following years firmly established the...
Artist Trivia
- Before operating simply as Mor W.A., the group originally used the name S.E.N. Mor W.A., which shows that its identity developed in stages before the album debut.
- One of the first strong signals of the group’s arrival was “Unoszę głowę” on DJ 600 V’s “Produkcja hip-hop,” a key compilation for late-1990s Warsaw rap.
- At the beginning of 2000, Mor W.A. signed with Pomaton EMI, giving the crew from an estate-based rap background an unusually strong entry into the major-label circuit.
- After the album “Morwa drzewo,” the members built their own studio called Drugi Dom, where they recorded “Dla słuchaczy,” strengthening their production independence.
