Mikołaj Trzaska

Mikołaj Trzaska is one of the most important figures in Polish improvised music of the last decades. He was born on 7 April 1966 in Gdańsk and developed outside the typical jazz-career model from the start, studying visual arts rather than receiving conventional musical training. His artistic maturation coincided with the rise of yass, a movement that rebelled in the late 1980s and early 1990s against the predictability of Polish jazz. Trzaska was a co-founder of Miłość, the most emblematic band of that environment, and later the leader of the equally significant Łoskot.
