Obscure Sphinx
Obscure Sphinx was formed in Warsaw in 2008 on the initiative of Bartosz Badacz and Mateusz “Werbel” Badacz. Soon afterward, bassist Michał “Blady” Rejman, vocalist Zofia “Wielebna” Fraś, and guitarist Tomasz “Yony” Jońca joined the band, with Aleksander “Olo” Łukomski later becoming another key figure in the lineup. Artist Trivia
- From the beginning, Obscure Sphinx shaped its live identity around performances described as dark rituals rather than ordinary metal shows.
- The band’s sound is built not only on heaviness, but also on the combination of electronic samples with 8-string guitars and 6-string bass parts.
- In 2012, the group won the New Blood Award at Germany’s Summer Breeze festival, an important sign of international recognition for a Warsaw-based band.
- Zofia “Wielebna” Fraś’s voice is one of the band’s most distinctive elements and is often pointed to as a key reason Obscure Sphinx stands apart from many other post-metal acts.
