Slums Attack, also known as SLU, is one of the most influential hip hop groups in Poland, formed in 1993 in Poznań as a duo of rapper Ryszard “Peja” Andrzejewski and Marcin “Iceman” Maćkowiak. Their early years were marked by home recorded demo tapes made around 1993 1994 and by gradually building a name within the local Poznań rap community at a time when the Polish hip hop scene was still emerging. In 1996 they released their first official album, self titled “Slums Attack”, followed by “Zwykła codzienność”, both recorded by the Peja and Iceman line up and now regarded as foundational works that defined the group’s street oriented image. In 1998 Dariusz “DJ Decks” Działek replaced Iceman in the official line...

In the earliest phase of Slums Attack, Iceman actually used the moniker DJ Def before switching to the better known nickname Iceman, a detail often omitted in short bios.
The first albums “Slums Attack” and “Zwykła codzienność” were released through the cult label RRX, which in the 1990s played a crucial role in shaping the Polish hip hop landscape.
For many fans the 2001 album “Na legalu?” marks a turning point that lifted Slums Attack from a street oriented crew to one of the most talked about projects in mainstream Polish rap, without softening their message.
The live brand SLU GANG allows Peja and DJ Decks to flexibly expand the line up for shows, inviting guests and building a larger stage production while keeping the core duo intact.
