Strachy Na Lachy is a Polish rock band created by Krzysztof “Grabaż” Grabowski and Andrzej “Kozak” Kozakiewicz, two musicians also closely associated with Pidżama Porno. From the outset, the project was meant to give them space for songs that were more melodic, more relaxed in form, and often more ballad-driven than their earlier work. Sources differ on the exact beginning of the band, with some pointing to 2001 and Poznań, while others indicate 2002 and Piła. The safest milestone to treat as a clear artistic debut is 2003, when the first album, “Strachy Na Lachy”, was released. Strachy Na Lachy was created as a vehicle for Grabaż and Kozak to explore softer, more ballad-oriented songs than the material they played in Pidżama Porno.
The band’s naming history is unusual, because it went through several title variants before settling on the final Strachy Na Lachy identity.
“Piła Tango” became the group’s first major hit and remains one of the songs most closely identified with the band.
