Trupa Trupa was formed in Gdańsk in 2009 and from the beginning developed its own language between alternative rock, psychedelia, post punk and a more experimental approach to song form. The core of the band is built around Grzegorz Kwiatkowski, Wojtek Juchniewicz and Tomek Pawluczuk, while some platform and catalog bios also mention Rafał Wojczal, so the safest current line up reference is the trio confirmed on the official website. The band’s early phase included self released records, including a 2010 EP and a 2011 album, but the real international breakthrough came with “Headache” in 2015. Trupa Trupa entered the international circuit relatively early, because in 2015 the band broke out beyond Poland with “Headache,” released by the British label Blue Tapes and X-Ray Records.
In 2019, the group released the single “Dream About” through Sub Pop, a label with major alternative credibility, which marked an important step in their international recognition.
The band has played festivals such as Primavera Sound, Desert Daze, SXSW and Iceland Airwaves, placing them among the relatively small number of Polish guitar bands with genuine global visibility.
Trupa Trupa also appeared in an NPR Tiny Desk session and a BBC Radio 6 Music session, both of which are strong signs of serious international interest.
