Artist Trivia
- The Cure’s story began with school bands Malice and Easy Cure, and the name Easy Cure came from a poem title and a demo contest.
- Robert Smith has been the band’s only constant member since 1978, making The Cure a rare case of a long running rock institution essentially built around a single creative core.
- While their early albums strongly shaped gothic rock, The Cure have moved through phases of post punk, new wave, synthpop, jangle pop and alternative rock rather than staying in one genre box.
- “Disintegration” from 1989 is often considered their masterpiece and a touchstone for expansive, emotionally heavy rock.
