Zbigniew Krzywański
Zbigniew Artur Krzywański is a Polish guitarist, composer, music producer and theatre creator, best known as a co-founder of Republika and one of the key architects of the band’s distinctive sound. He was born on August 19, 1961 in Drawsko Pomorskie, and although he began with the accordion, the guitar eventually became his defining instrument. The earliest safely documented stage of his musical activity goes back to 1976, when he was already playing in a rock band formed with friends at a local cultural centre. The real breakthrough came after he started biology studies in Toruń in 1980 and met Grzegorz Ciechowski, Paweł Kuczyński and Sławomir Ciesielski, with whom he founded Republika. - He is often described as Grzegorz Ciechowski’s “right-hand man”, a phrase that reflects how central he was to Republika’s inner creative structure.
- He co-wrote many key Republika songs, including “Mamona” and “My Lunatycy”, so his legacy in the band goes far beyond guitar playing alone.
