Blue Cafe
Blue Café is a Polish pop band from Łódź, founded in 1998 by composer, violinist and multi instrumentalist Paweł Rurak Sokal, known for blending pop with elements of acid jazz, funk, soul and Latin rhythms. From the outset, the project was conceived as a full band with a live horn section and a strong lead vocalist, which set it apart from many contemporary pop acts relying mainly on electronic backing tracks. Artist Trivia
- Blue Café represented Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 with the song “Love Song”, which remains one of the most frequently cited highlights of their international exposure.
- The band was nominated for the 2003 MTV Europe Music Awards in the Best Polish Act category, confirming their status as one of the leading Polish pop acts of the early 2000s.
- After Tatiana Okupnik left in 2005, the new vocalist was selected through a special TV casting competition, which was won by Dominika Gawęda.
- Official band materials emphasise an impressive list of accolades: five Superjedynka awards plus two diamond, four gold and two platinum records, a combination rarely seen in the Polish pop landscape.
