Decapitated
Decapitated is a Polish death metal band from Krosno and one of the most internationally recognized acts in the field of technical death metal. The band was formed in 1996 by teenage brothers Wacław “Vogg” Kiełtyka and Witold “Vitek” Kiełtyka together with vocalist Wojciech “Sauron” Wąsowicz, and bassist Marcin “Martin” Rygiel joined one year later. From the very beginning, Decapitated drew attention for being made up of very young musicians performing with striking technical proficiency and tight musicianship. In 1997 and 1998, the band recorded its first demos, and in 2000, after signing with Wicked World (an Earache Records imprint), released the debut album “Winds of Creation”, produced by Piotr “Peter”...
Artist Trivia
- When Decapitated first formed, the members were between 12 and 16 years old, making them one of the youngest bands ever to perform such advanced technical death metal.
- Their debut album “Winds of Creation” was produced by Peter from Vader, symbolically linking two of Poland’s most important death metal bands of that era.
- Many biographies emphasize that Decapitated built an international fan base while the members were still teenagers, quickly becoming “an innovating act in the modern death metal genre”.
- The band’s own official materials highlight “Winds of Creation”, “Nihility”, “The Negation” and “Anticult” as key records, showing how both early and later phases of their discography serve as reference points.
