Immortal Onion
Immortal Onion is an instrumental trio from Gdańsk, founded in 2016, that has built its identity at the intersection of jazz, electronics, minimalism, fusion and progressive influences from the very beginning. The band consists of Wojtek Warmijak, Tomir Śpiołek and Ziemowit Klimek, with a sound shaped by the interplay of piano and synths, tightly controlled drumming and a deep low-end presence built from bass and Moog textures. The group’s musical debut came in 2017 with “Ocelot of Salvation,” released after recognition in the “Jazz Phonographic Debut” program and support from the City of Gdańsk Cultural Scholarship. - Immortal Onion won the “Jazz Phonographic Debut” program and the City of Gdańsk Cultural Scholarship, which directly helped launch the band’s first album.
- Early in its career, the trio appeared at Warsaw Summer Jazz Days alongside Kamasi Washington, a strong sign that the project was moving beyond a local scene very quickly.
- The band has performed live improvised scores for animated films and silent cinema screenings, which says a lot about its cinematic imagination and compositional flexibility.
- “Screens” was not just another studio release, it was a collaborative project created with saxophonist and composer Michał Jan Ciesielski.
