Moonlight is one of the key Polish bands to emerge from the intersection of the gothic, metal and art rock scenes, formed in Szczecin in 1991. The group is most strongly associated with Maja Konarska’s distinctive voice and with a long artistic evolution that took it from dark gothic metal toward a more open and experimental rock language. The band’s first recordings were made around 1992 and 1993, but its major breakthrough came in 1996, when Moonlight won the Rock Block festival, signed its first contract and released “Kalpa Taru”. Over the following years, the group rapidly expanded its catalogue with albums such as “Meren Re”, “Inermis”, “Floe”, “Yaishi” and “Candra”, building a strong audience in Poland...

The band originally operated under the name Under The Vail Of Honesty, which shows that Moonlight went through an early identity-forming stage before establishing its better-known name.
In 1996 the group won the nationwide Rock Block festival, and that breakthrough coincided with its first record deal and the path toward its debut album.
The 2003 album “Moonlight” was not simply a new studio record, it was a re-recording of the band’s 1993 demo, made for the group’s tenth anniversary and presented in a very different style.
Daniel Potasz served as one of the band’s main composers and lyricists until 2002, and his departure became one of the key turning points in Moonlight’s history.
