Kasa Chorych was founded in 1975 in Białystok by Ryszard Skibiński and Jarosław Tioskow. From the start it was rooted in blues, yet its importance quickly grew beyond ordinary club activity, because by the late 1970s the group was already making its mark on major national events. The first breakthrough came in 1978, when the band took third place at the Wielkopolskie Rytmy Młodych festival in Jarocin and Skibiński received an individual award. During the same period Kasa Chorych became one of the driving forces of the blues scene in Białystok by helping establish Jesień z Bluesem, one of Poland’s oldest blues festivals. Kasa Chorych was one of the main forces behind the creation of the Jesień z Bluesem festival in Białystok, because the band, and especially Ryszard Skibiński, helped bring the first edition to life in 1978.
As early as 1979 the group appeared on the television program “Studio 2” in a show produced by Walter Chełstowski, which marked an important step from local recognition to national visibility.
In 1982 the band worked in the studio with Andrzej Zaucha, which remains one of the more unusual and memorable collaborations in its history.
The group changed significantly after Skibiński left for Krzak at the end of 1982, because from that point onward Jarosław Tioskow became the central long-term figure in the project.
