Leszek Możdżer

Leszek Możdżer is one of the most recognizable contemporary Polish jazz pianists, as well as a composer and producer who has significantly expanded the language of Polish jazz piano. Born on 23 March 1971 in Gdańsk, he emerged from a strong musical education background, yet his later artistic path clearly moved beyond a strictly academic model of pianism. An early key stage of his career was his involvement with Miłość, one of the most important bands of the Polish yass movement. Within that group, Możdżer helped shape a new idiom that combined jazz, improvisation, irony, alternative-scene energy, and a conscious break from conservative ideas about the genre.
