Milano
Milano are one of the more important names in classic 1990s disco polo, a band founded in March 1993 by brothers Andrzej and Bogdan Borowski together with Tomasz Sidoruk. From an early stage, the group developed a style based on simple, catchy melodies and hooks that fit perfectly into the rapidly growing Polish dance-music scene of that time. The first significant line-up expansion came in 1994, when Piotr Kopański joined the band. It was in the 1990s that Milano reached its greatest popularity and became one of the best-known acts in the genre, largely because of a catalogue that remains strongly associated with the classic disco polo era. The first chapter of the band’s activity ended in September 2000....
Artist Trivia
- In the mid-1990s, Milano were one of the most popular disco polo bands in Poland, with sources explicitly placing them among the leading acts of that era.
- The group’s best-known songs, including “Bara Bara,” “Baśka Barbara,” “Jasnowłosa,” “O Tobie kochana” and “Największe serce,” still define its public legacy and nostalgic appeal.
- The band’s history is clearly split into at least two major phases, the first running from 1993 to 2000 and the second beginning with the comeback in 2009.
- There is a real present-day ambiguity around the Milano name, because sources point both to an ongoing act under the Milano brand and to former original members continuing separately as Milano Oryginal.
