Trubadurzy are one of the key bands in the history of Polish big beat music, founded in 1963 in Łódź on the initiative of Sławomir Kowalewski, who assembled the original lineup with Krzysztof Krawczyk, Jerzy Krzemiński, Bogdan Borkowski and Marian Lichtman. Although the group was formed in 1963, its practical stage debut is most safely tied to 1964, when it began regular performances with Estrada Łódzka. The band’s nationwide breakthrough came with its appearance at the Opole festival in 1965, where it won the debut award. Artist Trivia

The band was originally conceived under the name The Troubadours, and its founders were openly inspired by The Beatles, which places Trubadurzy firmly within the first Polish wave of beat-era rock ambition.
Their highly recognizable stage costumes, inspired by troubadours and musketeers, were designed by Szymon Kobyliński and became part of the group’s visual identity in the late 1960s.
Trubadurzy appeared in two Andrzej Wajda films, Everything for Sale and Hunting Flies, which shows that the band’s cultural presence extended beyond records and concerts.
In 1972 the group went to Munich as ambassadors of Polish culture during the Olympic Games, a rare and prestigious role for a Polish pop-rock act of that era.
